Lincoln, Prototype.
Bronze with brown patina, circa 1938. 534 mm; 21 inches (height). Edition 1/1. Incised with artist's signature and initials.
Provenance
Estate of the artist.
Private Collection.
Slobodkin created a sculpture in the late 1930s as an entry for the 1939 World's Fair. The final bronze, "Lincoln the Rail Splitter" stands in front of the Stewart Lee Udall Department of the Interior Building, Washington, DC. This bronze is the only surviving prototype for the project.
